Why Should you investigate Barnton Bunker?

Hidden deep beneath the quiet streets of Edinburgh lies Barnton Bunker, also known as Regional Seat of Government No.2 — one of Scotland’s most secretive and unsettling Cold War locations.

Constructed in the 1950s during heightened nuclear tension, this vast underground bunker was designed to house government officials in the event of nuclear war. While the city above faced devastation, those below prepared to survive in isolation, secrecy, and constant fear.

Carved directly into solid rock, the bunker’s reinforced corridors, narrow passageways, and artificial lighting created an oppressive environment where staff lived and worked under the looming threat of global annihilation. Many believe the psychological stress, fear, and emotional trauma experienced here have left behind a powerful residual energy.

Reported Paranormal Activity at Barnton Bunker Includes:

  • Shadow figures seen moving through sealed corridors

  • Disembodied voices and whispered conversations

  • Unexplained footsteps in empty tunnels

  • Sudden cold spots and drastic temperature changes

  • Overwhelming feelings of dread or being watched

  • Electrical disturbances and equipment malfunctions

Investigating Barnton Bunker is unlike any traditional haunted location. This is not a place shaped by medieval punishment or executions — but by modern fear, secrecy, and the expectation of the end of the world.

If you’re searching for one of the most haunted places in Edinburgh and a truly unique Scottish ghost hunting experience, Barnton Bunker offers an unforgettable night of paranormal investigation.

Are you ready to descend underground… and discover what may still remain?

What to Expect at a Kindred Spirit Investigations Event

When you join a Kindred Spirit Investigations event, you’re not just watching a ghost hunt — you’re becoming part of one. Every experience is designed to be immersive, credible, and respectful, offering genuine investigation in some of the UK’s most atmospheric locations.

Here’s what you can look forward to on the night:

A Professional, Authentic Investigation

Our experienced investigators will guide and support you throughout the evening. We take a serious and professional approach — there’s nothing faked, staged, or exaggerated. Every sound and shadow is treated as genuine until proven otherwise, giving you a true taste of real paranormal investigation.

History Comes to Life

Before we begin, you’ll learn about the building’s fascinating history — including documented events and reports of paranormal activity that make it so unique. Understanding the stories behind each location helps bring context to your investigation and deepens the experience.

Hands-On Paranormal Techniques

You’ll receive instruction on a wide range of paranormal equipment, from traditional tools to cutting-edge technology. Our team will demonstrate how to use each device, then guide you as you try it for yourself during interactive experiments throughout the night.

Small, Focused Groups

To make sure every guest is fully involved, we keep our groups small — never more than 10 guests per investigator. This ensures a more personal experience and allows everyone the chance to ask questions, use the equipment, and take part at their own pace.

An Inclusive Experience for All Levels

Whether you’re a complete beginner or a seasoned investigator, our events are designed to suit every level of experience. You’ll be encouraged to participate as much (or as little) as you feel comfortable.

Optional Protection Prayer

At the start of the evening, we offer a protection prayer for those who wish to take part. It’s a thoughtful way to set positive intentions and ensure everyone feels grounded and safe.

Refreshments Throughout the Night

Ghost hunting can work up an appetite! You’ll have access to hot drinks (tea, coffee, and hot chocolate) and a selection of snacks including chocolate bars, biscuits, and crisps to keep your energy up as the night unfolds. But feel free to bring your own snacks all that we ask is that you consume them at the designated break times.

Each Kindred Spirit Investigations event is a carefully crafted blend of history, science, and spirituality — offering you the chance to explore the unknown in an engaging, respectful, and memorable way.
