Paranormal Activity

Ripon Workhouse dates back to the 1700's and was home to the destitute and homeless. The workhouse was the last resort and was a terrible place to live, those that entered the gates were well aware that they may never come out of here alive.

Families admitted to the workhouse were separated and children as young as 7 were expected to live alone and fend for themselves sleeping in separate dormitories and eating meals apart. It was a grim existence and all those abiding in the workhouse were subject to strict routines.

A horrific existence for those that were unfortunate to have to live there although some have not left...come with us to find out which have stayed at the workhouse and want to talk with us and tell us their story.

GDPR – STATEMENT OF INTENT

Kindred Spirit Investigations is required to keep and process certain information about its staff members and guests in accordance with its legal obligations under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Kindred Spirit Investigations may, from time to time, be required to share personal information about its staff or guests with other organisations, on the rare occasion that the venue managers that we hire venues from may request guest lists for disclaimer purposes for example.

This policy is in place to ensure that all staff and Kindred Spirit Investigations guests are aware of their responsibilities and outlines how Kindred Spirit Investigations complies with the core principles of the GDPR. Organisational methods for keeping data secure are imperative, and Kindred Spirit Investigations believes that it is good practice to adopt clear practical policies, backed up by written procedures.

This policy complies with the requirements set out in the GDPR, which will came into effect on 25 May 2018. The government has confirmed that the UK’s decision to leave the EU will not affect the commencement of the GDPR.

Data that will be kept by Kindred Spirit Investigations for guests may be: Name, Address, Mobile Number / Phone Number, email address and images / videos whilst partaking in events. No other information will be processed and obtained. Account details are held by outside agencies – Stripe, Paypal and DotGo.

Data kept by Kindred Spirit Investigations for staff may be: Name, Address, Bank  Account Details and Next of Kin. Images and videos of the staff will also be obtained and used for social media purposes.

Legal framework

This policy has due regard to legislation, including, but not limited to the following:

• The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

• The Freedom of Information Act 2000

 • The Freedom of Information and Data Protection (Appropriate Limit and Fees) Regulations 2004

This policy will also have regard to the following guidance:

• Information Commissioner’s Office (2017) ‘Overview of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)’

• Information Commissioner’s Office (2017) ‘Preparing for the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 12 steps to take now’

Applicable data

For the purpose of this policy, personal data refers to information that relates to an identifiable, living individual, including information such as an online identifier, e.g. an IP address. The GDPR applies to both automated personal data and to manual filing systems, where personal data is accessible according to specific criteria. Sensitive personal data is referred to in the GDPR as ‘special categories of personal data’, which are broadly the same as those in the Data Protection Act (DPA) 1998.

Principles

In accordance with the requirements outlined in the GDPR, personal data shall be:

• Processed lawfully, fairly and in a transparent manner in relation to individuals.

• Collected for organisational, accounting, advertising and legitimate purposes and not further processed in a manner that is incompatible with those purposes.

• Adequate, relevant and limited to what is necessary in relation to the purposes for which they are processed.

 • Accurate and, where necessary, kept up-to-date; every reasonable step must be taken to ensure that personal data that are inaccurate, having regard to the purposes for which they are processed, are erased or rectified without delay.

• Kept in a form which permits identification of data subjects for no longer than is necessary for the purposes for which the personal data are processed; personal data may be stored for longer periods, where guests have opted to subscribe to our newsletter and for reference to event attendance for accounting purposes.

 • Processed in a manner that ensures appropriate security of the personal data, including protection against unauthorised or unlawful processing and against accidental loss, destruction or damage, using appropriate technical or organisational measures.

The GDPR also requires that “the controller shall be responsible for, and able to demonstrate, compliance with the principles”.
